The detox diet is designed to rid your body of any toxic materials there may be in your body. Detoxing your body is good for your health. Using the detox diet will rid your body of toxins through the skin and through the lungs. When on the detox diet individuals also use nutritional supplements, hydrotherapy, and exercise.

If you haven't heard, your body builds up toxins every time you eat food that has additives in it or you have mercury put into your body such as through vaccinations or when you use drugs, including alcohol and use tobacco. The body also takes in some toxins through digestion. The detox diet can help you to lose weight, heal migraines, relieve stomach problems, reduce cold symptoms and reduce joint pain. It can also be effective against diseases such as heart disease and arthritis.

You should never start a detox diet without first getting the advise of your doctor about the diet. Some of the symptoms you are experiencing that prompted you to try the diet may be caused by serious illness and you should be seen by the doctor for a diagnosis. The detox diet alone may not be enough if you are suffering from a serious disease.

Immediately after taking the detox diet you may notice results right away including better skin, easier digestion, clearer thinking, enhanced energy and weight loss.

Not everyone is able to use the detox diet. Individuals who already have heart disease, those with cancer or individuals with kidney disease should not use the detox diet.

The detox diet is not without problems, there are side effects that many individuals have noticed when taking the detox diet including migraines, skin problems, and fatigue. These side effects disappear after a while.

When you are on the detox diet some foods you can eat as much as you like such as fruits, vegetables, rice, chickpeas, fish, oil, and herbal tea. While on the diet you will need to drink eight glasses of water each day in order to eliminate waste from your blood. Do not drink water just before or just after a meal. Good digestion begins with food being thoroughly chewed, which is a part of any good diet.

While on the detox diet, you will need to give up chocolate, sugar, milk and eggs. You will also have to give up all products with gluten, wheat products, and anything with caffeine including beverages. You must not eat foods with preservatives or yeast or anything with a high fat content.

You can definitely lose weight with the detox diet but because you will eventually go back to eating a normal diet and not the detox diet, you may gain it back if you go back to bad eating habits like eating foods high in fat and sugar. Most people go on the detox diet twice a year.
